Due to flooding in some areas of the district, After School and After 3 programming is canceled for Tuesday April 2, 2024. All students will be sent home on regular buses.

Dear Parents and Guardians:
As you are probably aware by now, we will be experiencing a solar eclipse on Monday, April 8th. According to the information available on nasa.gov, the eclipse will begin in Saxton next Monday at 2:02 P.M. and conclude around 4:30 P.M. The total eclipse, or the time the sun is covered by the moon, will last about four and a half minutes in the middle of that timeframe. Experts agree that looking directly at an eclipse can do permanent harm. Because this eclipse will take place as we load buses for the ride home, we will be reminding all of our students right before dismissal to notice the change of light, but not to look at the eclipse itself. We will also have increased teacher presence outside during dismissal to remind students. Our after school activities will proceed as usual, but students will be kept inside until the eclipse had concluded.
Normally, we would be taking advantage of this rare educational event, but due to the timing, we are not able to. In the event your schedule permits and you would like to experience this rare event with your child, we will excuse an early dismissal as educational. If you choose to take your child home early, you may pick him or her up at or before 1:30 p.m. If you would like us to dismiss your child early for the eclipse, please contact your child's school office by noon on Friday, April 5, 2024, to assist with our planning efforts.
If you have any questions or concerns regarding this notification, please feel free to contact your child's principal or myself. Thank you in advance for your attention and cooperation regarding this matter.
Sincerely,
Dr. Jerry Shoemake
Superintendent

Elementary Flex Day Schedule

All Tussey Mountain schools are canceled tomorrow, Tuesday, January 9th. We will be using a Flexible Instruction Day. Parents can check our website to see the MS/HS schedule.

Due to the arrival of inclement weather, we want our students to be prepared if we decide to use a flexible instruction day, which we will announce if we close schools. This year students in the middle/high school will be required to sign in to Canvas or Google Classroom during the time they are regularly in class. We have posted the regular class schedule on our website under the MS/HS heading to help students manage their instructional day. Thank you.
