SPECIAL EDUCATION

The Tussey Mountain School District provides special education and related services to appropriate resident children with disabilities who are aged three through 21. Under the federal Individuals with Disabilities Education Act, or “IDEA”, school aged children qualify for special education and related services if they have one or more of the following disabilities and as a result need such services:

  • Mental retardation

  • Hearing impairments

  • Speech or language impairments

  • Visual impairments

  • Emotional disturbance

  • Orthopedic impairments or physical disabilities

  • Autism, including pervasive development disorders

  • Traumatic brain injury

  • Other health impairments

  • Specific learning disabilities

  • Deaf-blindness

  • Deafness

  • Multiple disability
