PA Placed under Stay-at-Home Order

Dear Parents/Guardians,

Governor Wolf has ordered the state locked down to help prevent the spread of COVID-19. Since schools were closed on March 13th, we have been preparing for this possibility. We passed out over 200 Chromebooks and our teachers have been working hard to provide all of our students with online work so that we can continue to educate our entire population during this crisis. We have contacted all of our students and their families to ensure that every student has access to the curriculum. Some families do not have access to the internet, and they were provided with paper and pencil packets. Our special education teachers are contacting and working with their students, and our service providers are also working with students via teletherapy. I believe we have done as much as we can at this point to prepare for the order for everyone to stay home.

As employers, we are very concerned about the health and well-being of our entire staff. Accordingly, we will be closing both our buildings completely as of noon on Thursday. No staff will remain. If you have questions or concerns about our cyber program or any other questions, please feel free to e-mail us. We are planning on working from home and will answer your concerns in a timely manner. Please feel free to contact:

Wayland Heath – Elementary Principal wheath@tmsd.net
Matt McCahan – Sr. High and Middle School Principal  mmccahan@tmsd.net
Jerry Shoemake – Superintendent  jshoemake@tmsd.net

We have also set up our phone system to forward messages to us as e-mails so we can follow up on phone calls as well. This is a trying time for everyone and no one has experience in this kind of situation or knows what to expect. We will do our best to keep you up to date on developments and decisions we make moving forwards. We are hopeful we will all be back in school sometime this year and will be able to hold prom and graduation, but only time will tell. Until that time, keep safe and take care of one another.

Sincerely,

Dr. Jerry Shoemake - Superintendent
