MRSA Questions and Answers October 26, 2007 To All District Parents/Guardians Winter is fast approaching and of course this seems to be when we see an increase in illness. Strep throat, colds, flu and other bacterial and viral diseases seem to increase this time of year. There has also been much information recently on the news regarding the “super bug” or MRSA. Therefore, we are encouraging students to wash their hands and be more aware of the spread of bacteria. At the High School, several waterless antibacterial dispensers have been installed at various locations including the locker rooms. All High School and Elementary teachers will be given waterless antibacterial pumps to use in the classroom if a quick hand washing is needed (when there is limited time for soap and water). We do encourage soap and water, of course, as the primary choice when feasible. Below is a link entitled "MRSA Questions and Answers". By clicking on this link, you will be able to view information supplied by the Department of Health. It will give you pertinent information regarding MRSA. Should you need more information, please feel free to call any of the nursing staff. Respectfully, Angela Johnson and Louann Heath Tussey Mountain School Nurses | |||||||||||||||||||
