Act 32 Notice to Employers

NEW TAX COLLECTION LAW EFFECTIVE JANUARY 2012

Pennsylvania Act 32 mandates fundamental changes in the way your business does its payroll.   Under Act 32 all companies in Pennsylvania are now required to collect local Earned Income Taxes from all of their employees and remit them to a new consolidated tax agency.

As an employer you are now responsible to:

  1. Have ALL employees complete a Certificate of Residency form
  2. As of January 1, 2012 deduct local Earned Income Taxes from all employees
  3. Transmit tax payments and prescribed taxpayer information to (Agency/Bureau Name),   collector for the new Bedford County Tax Collection District that includes:

  BEDFORD COUNTY   HUNTINGDON COUNTY

 Broad Top Township

 Hopewell Township

 Coaldale Boro

 Broad Top City Boro

 Liberty Township

 Dudley Boro

 Saxton Boro

 Todd Township

 Carbon Township

 Coalmont Boro

 Wood Township

Failure to comply may result in significant fines, penalties and interest being levied against you as an employer.   In addition, you as an employer can be held responsible for the payment of your employee’s taxes.

To help employers transition to the new tax collection system, Bedford County Tax Collection Committee has arranged for a number of educational seminars.   Please go to www.nbcsd.org/bedfordcountytcc   for additional information about these Act 32 seminars or call (814) 635-3670.

Additional Act 32 information may also be found on the Department of Community and Economic Development’s website at www.new.com .   Click on “Get Local Gov Support” then “Tax Information”.   Choose the “DCED’s Act 32 EIT Collection System” for additional information.
